The Bible is our instructional manual and we are to follow it step by step.  The word teaches us in Psalms 37:23 “The steps of a [good] man are directed and established by the Lord when He delights in his way [and He busies Himself with his every step].”  Yet too many of us are tired of our Christian walk because we have made it harder than it should be.  Matthew 11:28 says “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.”   The reason we are so tired is because we have been building according to our own plans.  Isaiah 55:9 says “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” So the sooner we listen to God via His Word, the sooner we can accomplish our tasks in life (according to his plan).

But before we ever begin to build, there must be a breaking down of the old time religion, the bad habits, the never ending temptations, etc.  Jeremiah 1:10 says “See, I have this day appointed you to the oversight of the nations and of the kingdoms to root out and pull down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plan”  Notice that the building and the planting doesn’t come until we have rooted out, pulled down, destroyed and overthrown.  We first have to break down everything we built according to our own plans and start all over again, but with God’s plans this time.  Too many of us want to build God’s new found plan over our old habbits and old thought patterns.  When we do that we soon find out that we have costly foundation problems.  God holds the blue prints to our lives.  We have to build accordingly or face instability.

Once we are founded on the Rock, then we are able to help our fellow brothers.  Ephesians 4:12 & 13 says “His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ's body (the church), [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ's own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him. This was his plan all along; that we minister unto one another.  But we first must be established and founded on His Word.

Look at what the book of Luke chapter 6, verses 48 & 49 say about such a man… “He is like a man building a house, who dug and went down deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when a flood arose, the torrent broke against that house and could not shake or move it, because it had been securely built or founded on a rock. But he who merely hears and does not practice doing My words is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation, against which the torrent burst, and immediately it collapsed and fell, and the breaking and ruin of that house was great. Which of these two scenarios best describes you?
